For a lot of people, cleaning the bathroom can be an overwhelming task. Bathrooms too often get neglected because they sometimes need some special steps and cleaning materials beyond just a vacuum and a quick picking up. Bathrooms need to be deep-cleaned on a regular basis, and not everyone knows how to make this easy and efficient.

In today’s blog, we want to share some of the tips we’ve learned through our award-winning cleaning services. Clean Away Maids provides expert cleaning services to Mebane and surrounding areas, and we want to take this opportunity to look at tips and tricks for the best bathroom cleaning possible. If you have any questions or if you’re ready to get started on our cleaning services, then be sure to reach out to us today. In the meantime, let’s look at five steps for getting your bathroom looking brand new!

1. Move Things Around

As we mentioned earlier, the key to a clean bathroom is deep-cleaning. The first step toward this is moving things out of their normal spots so you can get to all those hard-to-reach spots. The hard-to-reach spots are the exact areas that tend to go neglected during day-to-day cleaning. So, first things first: move things around!

You can start by moving all items/products out of the shower and out of the cabinets. Make sure that you clear out all the used towels and rugs. And, of course, remove any trash and trash cans. Get these areas cleared so you can clean the entire bathroom at once, instead of as you go.

2. Break Out the Duster

After clearing out the bathroom and moving things around from their normal spots, the next step is to sweep and dust. Make sure you do this before you start cleaning the shower or toilet. The reason it’s important to do this first is because all that dirt and dust will be pain once you start to use liquid cleaners. Sweep that dry debris out of those areas before you break out the water and cleaning solutions!

Dust all those high up and hard-to-reach areas, such as the lights, vanities, cabinets, etc. You should also dust the top of the water tank of your toilet and any other areas that tend to allow for dirt and dust to build up. This is true for the bathroom as elsewhere but always dust before you sweep (or vacuum), since a lot of that dirt will fall to the floor. After that, just give your floors a good sweeping.

3. Time for the Cleaning Solution

At this point, it’s time to use your favorite cleaning solution on the surfaces in your bathtub/shower and sink. There are lots of options for commercial cleaning solutions. And, of course, there are lots of ways to make quick and easy cleaning solutions at home. These homemade solutions tend to be less corrosive and safer to use. At the same time, they tend to lack some of the chemical compounds that can be particularly effective at getting at build-up of molds, mildews, and stubborn bacteria.

Whatever type of cleaning solution you choose, you will want to spray down all the surfaces, including the shower track. Let it soak for the appropriate amount of time (usually somewhere around ten minutes) and then wipe down with a sponge or a cloth. Do the same for the sink and vanity areas, as well as any towel racks, shelves, baseboards, doors, blinds, and windowsills. Work in sections from the top of the room to the bottom, and left to right.

4. Clean That Toilet

The outside of your toilet and the tank can be cleaned along with the sink and the shower, just as described in the previous steps. You will also want to clean the inside of your toilet bowl. Sometimes stains and discoloration can develop inside the toilet bowl, which means there has to be a good deal of soaking. Usually, the same all-purpose cleaner you used for the shower can work inside the toilet bowl. However, if you have stubborn stains, then soaking in a bleach solution is often the best.

5. Prep the Mop

After you’ve done all of the above steps, you will want to mop the floors. There are a few different ways you can approach this. A popular option these days is to use a ready-made wet mop. These are equipped with built-in jets for cleaning solutions and disposable cloths that make mopping extremely easy.

However, if you want to avoid the waste and get a deeper clean, then the traditional mop is the way to go. All you have to do is get a mop that you can squeegee out and fill up a bucket with a cleaning solution. Mop the floors and then let them dry out. After that’s all said and done, you can replace your freshly washed rugs and towels, as well as all the other items you moved in step one. Your bathroom will now be sparkling clean.

Keep Things Clean

A final tip is to keep things tidy as you go along, that way your deep-cleans can be easier and quicker. One of the best ways to do this is to squeegee that shower walls and door after each shower. You can also install things into your bathroom to keep clean-up nice and easy. For instance, a hair-catcher in your drains can prevent clogs and build-up. You can also have a spot for a hand-held vacuum so that you can pick up small messes without any issue. Maintenance is key to a beautiful bathroom!
